These handmade oak gallows brackets add a touch of rustic charm to any home or garden. Each one is crafted in our Lincolnshire workshop from either premium oak hardwood or C24 softwood Douglas fir, and the untreated finish leaves a natural colour that sits well against brick, stone or render.

Handmade for canopies, porches and DIY projects

Our oak gallows brackets are ideal for DIY projects, door canopies and porch roofs. Prices are for a single bracket.

Options are oak, Douglas fir and gloss spray Douglas fir. The painted Douglas fir option is two base sprays and a top coat spray.

Left untreated, oak will crack a little over time, which only adds to that natural oak look. If you would rather keep the lighter colour, a coat of linseed oil now and then will hold it. Happy for it to darken? Simply leave it be.

Gallows brackets do a simple job well: they carry the weight of a canopy or small roof back into the wall, which is why the traditional shape has barely changed in centuries. You will see them supporting door canopies, porch roofs and box bay windows on homes right across the country.

Oak or Douglas fir

Not sure which timber to choose? Oak is the heavier, longer lived option and weathers to a soft silver grey if left untreated, while Douglas fir is the more affordable softwood and takes paint well.
